Artist Bio

Rory Evangeline is a filmmaker and digital post-production artist. She lends herself to a multitude of media platforms, using psychoanalytic techniques as a basis for each venture. Her artwork is often ethnographic and autoethnographic, and moves fluidly throughout the experimental-narrative and fiction-nonfiction storytelling spectrums. Rory aims to shed light on the universality of human shame — and inspire solidarity in the face of it.

Rory’s written pieces are often a blend of personal essay and journalistic tropes. By weaving sociopolitical topics with her individual insight, Rory promotes social awareness that appeals to deeper emotional themes. She has written pieces for several magazines describing the manifestation of politics, commercialism, addiction, and more.

Rory’s films follow more abstract avenues to convey philosophical questions of connection and individual empowerment. She favors simple production techniques that reduce the spectacle-spectator gap, cultivating a sense of intimacy. Rory is also passionate about establishing cinematic worlds with equal representation that give a platform to identities who have been silenced for generations.
