Artist Statement

The rise in accessible media has connected us all to one another more than ever before. We form our opinions, identities, aesthetic preferences, and countless other idiosyncracies per media influence. Accessible entertainment creates shared experiences — and conversely, shared displacement.

Entertainment media has long failed to acknowledge its lack of representation, especially as it continues to reconstruct audiences’ understandings of community.

Rory’s mission as an artist is to rediscover the common ground of human experience that has been pushed aside by popular media, giving a voice to those who feel alienated in their respective realities. With a foundation built on emotional vulnerability, Rory comments on the abstraction of connection to endorse unity, equality, and empowerment.
